I was bruised
And battered,
I couldn't tell what I felt.
I was unrecognizable to myself.
I saw my reflection in a window
I didn't know my own face
Oh Brother, gonna leave me wasting away
In the streets of Philadelphia
I walk in the avenue,
'Tell my legs feel like stone.
I heard voices of friends vanished and gone,
At night I hear the blood in my veine
This is black and whispering as the rain
On the streets of Philadelphia
And an angel gonna greet me
It's just you and I my friend
And my clothes don't fit me no more
I walked thousand miles just to slip this skin
The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake
I can feel myself fading away
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss
Or will we leave each other alone like this
On the streets of Philadelphia
Well I did like the way the poem has expressed what he feels about his present life. He has opened up a lot on his frustration on becoming a loner for quite a sometime. This is turn has made him think a lot on what he was doing until now.
